....comparable to taking a shamanic journey
Flutes, Tibetan singing bowls, and percussion with occasional vocals combine to produce a rich melange of living tonal atmospheres. From its Native American beginnings with heartbeat rhythm, "spinning" bowl, and cedar nose flute, the album migrates to an oriental domain induced by creative effects that include didjeridu and a water fountain. No actual whale sounds are heard on this recording, yet their gentle, massive presence and an awareness of oceanic motion are strongly communicated. By the end, the listener has found her way home through wild yet soothing seas...
Sounding almost supernatural at times, these moodily ambient instrumentals are an excellent homage to all that is whale.
It was a pleasure having you perform at the Warwick Public Library....Many audience members spoke to me afterwards and said how much they had enjoyed it. I especially liked that the performance was artistic and educational as you discussed the creative process involved in the pieces. I think the act of creativity is something that many people crave to learn about as we seem to become more mechanized in our day-to-day lives.
I am writing to express my appreciation for the performance given by you...you created a soaring, spiritual space in the auditorium that afternoon...you combine outstanding musicianship and professionalism with a unique ability to reach out to the audience in a very pure and welcoming way...pure magic, David. Thank you for providing the Barrington Public Library with such a stellar event. We need to have you back as often as we can!
